Jio IUC Charges – 6 Paisa/ Minute Non-Jio Number, Top-Up Recharge Post-Paid Jio

Reliance Jio has issue a notification (Press Release) that from 10 October (Next Recharge) you have to pay Rs .06 for Per Minute calling to other mobile network. This step is taken by Jio because of TRAI.

Jio was launched in Sept 2016 with free calling and fee unlimited data. From that date, Jio has slowly changed to paid network. No doubt that Jio 4G network/ speed is best among the competitors i.e. Airtel, BSNL and Vodafone-Idea. The customer based has also increased to 350 Million (Approx).

Let us first understand what is IUC & Charges:

IUC Full form is Interconnection Usage Charges. This is the charge that telecom company has to bear for every outgoing calls from its parents network. i.e. If you are calling from Jio to Jio then it is not counted in IUC, whereas if you call from JIO to other nework i.e. Airtel, BSNL or IDEA Vodafone then it will be under the TRAI IUC Charge.

रिलायंस जियो ने अपने ग्राहकों को बड़ा झटका दिया है| जिओ के ग्राहकों को अब फोन पर बात करने के लिए पैसे देने होंगे| जिओ के एक बयान के मुताबिक ग्राहकों को किसी दूसरी कंपनी के नेटवर्क पर कॉल करने के लिए प्रति मिनट छह पैसे देने होंगे| जिओ ने कहा कि 6 पैसे प्रति मिनट का शुल्क केवल तब तक जारी रहेगा जब तक TRAI अपने वर्तमान रेगुलेशन के अनुरूप IUC को समाप्त नहीं कर देता है|”

History of IUC Charges

TRAI Interconnect Usage Charge or IUC is a cost paid by one mobile telecom operator to another, when its customers make outgoing mobile calls to the other operator’s customers.These callsbetween two different networks are known as mobile off-net calls.IUC charges are fixed by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)and are currently at 6 paise per minute.

  1. Before 1 October 2017, IUC charges were 14 Paisa
  2. Between 1st October, 2017 to the 31stDecember, 2019 – IUC Charges is 6 Paisa per minute
  3. After 1 Jan 2020 onward – 0 Paisa (No IUC Charges) as per the press release

Jio Calling Rules (New) – 6 Paisa per minute

Jio stands firm on its commitment to offer the highest value to its customers, and there is no 6 paise per minute charge on:

  1. all Jio to Jio calls;
  2. all incoming calls;
  3. Jio to landline calls; and
  4. calls made using WhatsApp or FaceTime and similar platforms.

Jio Top-Up (New IUC Free Calling)

Jio has announced 4 Top-up for the IUC Mobile Calling (Jio to other mobile free calling) top-up recharge. The benefit will be also in the DATA.

Post-Paid Jio Number (IUC Charge)

Yes, the postpaid customer has to pay the IUC Charges, 6 Paisa per minute to the non-jio mobile number. The Post-paid customers will be billed at 6 paise perminute for off-net outgoing calls with increase in free data entitlement to the extent mentioned above.
