For Officer, you have to pass the exam and then SSB Interview. The selection process will be the similar only difference is in the duration of Service.

टूर ऑफ ब्यूटी  के जवान/  अफसरों का मासिक वेतन दूसरे जो की परमानेंट अफसर और जवान है उनके बराबर ही होगा|

Tour of Duty: Short Notification

Govt. of India is planning to introduce 3-year TOUR of DUTY (ToD) job profile for the interested candidate who wants to serve the Indian Army as Jawan or Officers.

All the existing benefits will be given to the selected Tour of Duty candidates. The recruitment process will also be similar.

✅ What is the Tour of Duty Indian Army Job?

The Govt. of India and the Indian Army are planning to introduce Tour of Duty Job Profile for Candidate who wants to serve in the Army for at least 3 years.




✅ What is the Selection Process of Tour of Duty?

The selection is the same as of regular Army Officer or Jawan (JCO/ OR) recruitment.
For Jawans: You have to fill online application at www.joinindianarmy.nic.in, Appear in Rally, Exam, Pass the Physical Test and the Shortlisted candidate will be called for the document verification.
For Officers: Online Exam, SSB, Medical Test and finally the merit list.

✅ What will be salary of Tour of Duty Officers?

The Monthly Salary and Allowance are similar to the existing Pay Grade and 7th Pay Commission.
Sepoy: Rs 25,000
Lance Naik: Rs 30000
Naik: Rs 35000
Havaldar: Rs 40000
Naib Subedar: Rs 45,000
Lieutenant: Rs 68000
Captain: Rs 75000

Categories of Entry and Their Eligibility Conditions

Note: # Upper Age limit will be relaxable up to 30 yrs of age (as on date of joining training) in respect of widows of Defence personnel who have died in harness.

(b) Sol Tech (Aviation & Ammunition Examiner) 10+2/Intermediate Exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English with min 50% marks in aggregate and min 40% marks in each subject.

Soldier Clerk / Store Keeper Technical (All Arms)
10+2/Intermediate Examination Pass in any stream (Arts, Commerce, Science) with min 60% marks in aggregate and min 50% in each subject. Securing 50% in English and Maths/Accounts/Book keeping in Class 12th is mandatory.
17 ½ – 23 Yrs
Soldier Nursing Assistant (Army Medical Corps) 10+2/Intermediate Exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with min 50% marks in aggregate and min 40% in each subject. 17 ½ – 23 Yrs
Sepoy Pharma (Army Medical Corps) 10+2 or equivalent exam passed with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English qualified in D Pharma with minimum 55% marks in aggregate and registered with State Pharmacy Council/Pharmacy Council of India. Individual qualified in B Pharma with minimum 50% marks and registered with State Pharmacy Council/Pharmacy Council of India will also be eligible. 19- 25 Yrs

Survey Automated Cartographer (Engineers) BA / B Sc with Maths. Must have also passed 12th class (10+2) or equivalent with Maths and Science as main subjects. 20-25 Yrs
Junior Commissioned Officer Religious Teacher (All Arms) The minimum educational qualification for appointment to this special list of Junior Commissioned Officers (Religious Teacher) will be a Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university. In addition, candidate must possess following qualification according to the religious denomination of the individual

i) Pandit and Pandit (Gorkha) for Gorkha RegimentHindu candidates with Acharya in Sanskrit (OR) Shastri in Sanskrit with one-year diploma in ‘Karam Kand’.

ii) Granthi. Sikh candidates with ‘Gyani’ in Punjabi




iii) Maulvi and Maulvi (Shia) for Ladakh Scouts. Muslim candidates with Maulvi Alim in Arabic or Adib Alim in Urdu.

iv) Padre. Any person who have been ordained priesthood by the appropriate ecclesiastical authority and is still on the approved list of the local Bishop.

v) Bodh Monk (Mahayana). Any person who have been ordained Monk/Buddhist Priest, by the Appropriate Authority. The term Appropriate Authority will mean Head Priest of the Monastery where the person has been initiated into priesthood. The head priest should be in possession of Geshe (PhD) of Khampa or Lopon or Rabjam with proper certificate from Monastery.

Note:- The above mandatory education qualifications should be acquired by individuals from recognized universities. All the above eligibility criteria are common for In-service and Civil Candidates.

Junior Commissioned Officer Catering (Army Service Corps) 10+2 or equivalent exam and Diploma / Certificate Course of a duration of one year or more in Cookery / Hotel Management and Catering Tech from a recognized University / Food Craft Institute. AICTE recognition is not mandatory. 21-27 Yrs
Havildar Education(Army Education Corps) Group X – MA/M Sc/MCA or BA/B Sc/BCA/B Sc (IT) with BEd.
Group Y – B Sc / BA / BCA / B Sc (IT) (w/o B Ed)

Soldier (General Duty) Women Military police Minimum education qualification is Matric /10th/SSLC or equivalent with 45% marks in aggregate and minimum 33% marks in each subject studied at matric/10th/SSLC level, without mentioning any specific subjects.

Selection Process

General As part of the screening process, candidates will be tested in Physical Fitness Tests (PFT).Physical Fitness Tests (PFT) is mandatory and will be carried out for all categories during the screening process of recruitment to assess the candidate’s physical ability and courage.

The following tests will be concluded as part ofPhysical Fitness Tests (PFT) :




  • 1.6 km run for Endurance.
  • Pull Ups on Beam (Under Grip) for Strength.
  • 9 feet Ditch for Courage.
  • Zig-Zag Balance for Agility.

Marking System System of awarding marks for various categories are as under:

  • Upto 5 mins 30 secs – 60 Marks (Group I)
  • From 5 mins 31 secs to 5 mins to 45 secs – 48 Marks (Group II)
  • Above 5 mins 45 secs – Fail

Provisions for Extra Time for 1.6 Km Run for Hilly Terrain Areas

Timings applicable for conduct of 1.6 Km run in hilly terrain will be as under:




  • Upto 5000 feet – As per paragraph 4.
  • Between 5000 feet to 9000 feet – Additional 30 secs extra given to each group.
  • Between 9000 feet to 12000 feet – Additional 120 secs extra given to each group.

Pull Ups on Beam (Under Grip)

The marks for pull-ups on beam will be awarded as under:

Weightage in Merit

Performance of individual for Soldier General Duty, Soldier Technical / Clerk / Store Keeper Technical / Nursing Assistant and Soldier Tradesman will be taken into account while awarding bonus marks as given below:

  • Soldier General Duty – Physical Fitness Test (PFT) + Common Entrance Examination (CEE) marks
  • Soldier Technical / Clerk / Store Keeper Technical / Nursing Assistant -Common Entrance Examination (CEE) marks. However, the individual should have qualified inPhysical Fitness Test (PFT).
  • Tradesmen with Aptitude Test – 30% Physical Fitness Test (PFT) marks + 30% Common Entrance Examination (CEE) marks + 40% Tradesman Aptitude Test marks.
  • Tradesmen without Aptitude Test – 60% Physical Fitness Test (PFT) marks + 40% Common Entrance Examination (CEE) marks.
  • Tradesmen Musician – 50% Physical Fitness Test (PFT) marks + 25% Aptitude Test marks + 25% Common Entrance Examination (CEE) marks.

Havildar Survey Automated Cartographer – No Weightage. However, JCO Religious Teacher / Catering / Direct Havildar Sportsman (Meritorious Sportsman) should have qualified inPhysical Fitness Test (PFT).

Syllabus & Scheme of Examination

  • Educational Certificate / Marksheet issued by the Recognized Education Board.
  • Residence Certificate with photograph issued by the authorised signatory of the State Government / Tehsildar / SDM.
  • Caste Certificate with photograph to be signed by Village Sarpanch except in the case of SIKH (Mazbi and Ramdasia), Gujjar and Gorkha candidates wherein it is reqd to be signed by the authorised signatory of the State Government / Tehsildar / SDM. Candidates belonging to Dogra Community to produce certificate with photograph issued by Tehsildar / Authorised Government Signatory.
  • Religion Certificate issued by the authorised signatory of the State Government / Tehsildar / SDM.
  • School Character Certificate issued by the Schools / Colleges Principal / Headmaster.
  • Character Certificate with photograph issued by the Village Sarpanch / Municipal Corporation / Police issued within last six months.
  • Unmarried Certificate with photograph issued by Village Sarpanch / District Administration issued within last six months (If candidate is below 21 years of age).
  • Relationship Certificate issued by concerned Records Office (Applicable for only the Son of Serving Soldiers / Widows / War Widows and Ex-servicemen).
  • NCC A / B / C Certificates. In case of NCC Certificate holders relevant certificates and certificate for participation in Republic Day Parade to be produced for dispensation.
  • Sports Certificate to be produced if represented in the following
    • Represented India at International level.
    • Represented State at National Level.
    • Represented District at National Level.
    • Represented University Team or Regional Team at District Level.
  • Candidates having O+ Level Computer Certificate ‘Business Professional Programmer’ issued by the DOEACC Society.
  • Latest passport size photographs. Both the ears of the candidates must be visible and SIKH (Mazbi and Ramdasia) candidates must have photograph in turban and without turban.
  • Kandi area certificate for applicable candidates to be issued by Tehsildar / Authorised Government Signatory.

Registration Process




For the Tour of Duty (ToD) Officer/ Jawan Bharti 2020, you have to fill online application available at www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. After registration candidates shall follow instructions as given out and apply for the selected trade for which they are eligible.

The candidates shall be given a date and place for conduct of Physical Fitness tests, the procedure for which is enumerated below.
