Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: प्रधानमंत्री फसल बीमा योजना से किसानो को फसल में कोई भी नुकसान से प्राकृतिक आपदाओं, कीट और रोगों के कारण अधिसूचित फसल में से किसी कि नुकसान की स्थिति में किसानों को बीमा कवरेज और वित्तीय सहायता प्रदान करना| PM Fasal Bima Scheme is protection to farmers for the losses occurring due to uncertainty and unfavorable weather vagaries resulting in crop losses on the field (Natural disaster, pest attacks and weather vagaries such excess or deficit rainfall, excess or deficit temperature, humidity, frost, wind speed, etc.) also PMFBY is exempted from Service Tax.
Crops Covered for PM Fasal Bima Insurance:
- Food Crops e.g cereals, millets and pulses
- Oilseeds e.g groundnut
- Annual Commercial /Annual Horticulture Crops e.g fruits and vegetables
Claim Process: PM Fasal Bima Yojana
Assessment of claim done: This is the first step taken by the Agency to assess the damage to crop. If the Actual yield per hectare of insured crops for the insurance unit (calculated on the basis of requisite no. of CCEs) in insured season falls short of specified Threshold yield, all insured farmer in that defined area and crop are deemed to have suffered a shortfall in
‘Claim’ shall be calculated as per the following formula:

Threshold yield is the average yield of past seven years (excluding a maximum of two calamity year (s) as notified by State Government/ UT) multiplied by applicable indemnity level for that crop.
- Settlement of claim to the farmers would commence once premium subsidy from Central and State/ UT Govt. have been received for the season by insurance
- After receiving the claim amount from concerned insurance companies, the financial institution/ banks should remit the claim amount to beneficiaries farmer account within 1 week and should display the complete details of beneficiaries at branch offices within 7 days and send the report to insurance companies along with utilization certificate for verification and
- In case of farmers covered through voluntary basis i.e. Intermediaries, payable claim will be directly credited into individual farmer accounts with an intimation of claim details by the insurance.

Premium Rates (PMFBY) 2019 Rates
Premium Rates charged under this scheme?
Actuarial premium rates to be charged under PMFBY scheme are as follow:-
- For Kharif Crops, the maximum premium rates payable by the farmers is 2 % of Sum Insured or Actuarial premium rate whichever is
- For Rabi Crops, the maximum premium rates payable by the farmers is 1.5 % of Sum Insured or Actuarial premium rate whichever is
- For Kharif and Rabi Crops, the maximum premium rates payable by the farmers is 5 % of Sum Insured or Actuarial premium rate whichever is
किसानों के लिए बुवाई नहीं होने पर Claiming Process
Prevented Sowing/ Planting Risk: किसी अधिसूचित क्षेत्र की अधिकांश बीमित फसलों को प्रतिकूल मौसम की स्थिति जैसे कि अल्प वर्षा या प्रतिकूल मौसमी परिस्थितियों के कारण बुवाई / रोपण से रोका जाता है, बीमित फ़सलें जो अधिकतम क्षतिपूर्ति दावों के लिए पात्र होंगी। बीमा राशि का 25%।
- एक अधिसूचित इकाई में प्रारंभिक चरण में बोई गई 75% से अधिक क्षेत्र में फसलों को प्रभावित करने वाले पात्र जोखिमों की व्यापक घटनाओं के मामले में किसानों के लिए कवरेज लागू होती है, जिससे फसल या किसान का कुल नुकसान होता है या बोने या प्रत्यारोपण की स्थिति में नहीं होता है। फसल (या) या तो बुवाई या फसल का अंकुरण घाटे या अधिक वर्षा के कारण होता है।
- Eligibility Criteria: Only those farmers who have paid the premium / the premium has been debited from their account before the damage.The State Government would provide Notified Insurance Unit and crop wise normal area sown at the beginning of the season within 15 days. “Prevented Sowing/ Planting” pay-out only if more than 75% of Crop Sown Area for notified crop remained unsown due to occurrence of any of the above perils.
Loss assessment procedure:
- The cover will be available for major crops only.
- The payout will be 25% of total sum insured and the policy will be terminated after that.
Note: The Insurance company will disburse claims within 30 days of State Govt notification/ order, subject to receipt of premium, as per scheme guidelines.
Standing Crop (Sowing to Harvesting): गैर-रोकथाम जोखिमों, अर्थात के कारण उपज हानि को कवर करने के लिए व्यापक जोखिम बीमा प्रदान किया जाता है। खड़ी फसल के दौरान सूखे, सूखे मंत्र, बाढ़, बाढ़, कीट और रोग, भूस्खलन, प्राकृतिक आग और बिजली, तूफान, ओलावृष्टि, चक्रवात, तूफान, टेंपेस्ट, तूफान और तूफान।
- On account payment of claims due to mid-season adversity of claims is applicable for standing crops in case of floods, prolonged dry spells, severe drought etc , where expected yield will be less than 50%.
- Eligibility Criteria for farmers who have paid the premium or whose premium has been debited from their account before the damage.
Note: If adversity occurs within 15 days before the normal harvest time, this provision will not be invoked. The provision is invoked by the State Government through damage notification based on the proxy Indicators.
Post-Harvest Losses Claim: चक्रवात और चक्रवाती बारिश और बेमौसम बारिश के विशिष्ट खतरों के खिलाफ कटाई के बाद उन फसलों के लिए जो फसल में सूखने और फैलने की स्थिति में होती है, के लिए कटाई से अधिकतम दो सप्ताह की अवधि तक कवरेज उपलब्ध है।
- The damage to the harvested crop after “cut and spread” in field due to cyclone, cyclonic rains and unseasonal rains throughout the country resulting in damage to harvested crop Maximum period is two weeks (14 days) from harvested date to drying purpose
- Eligibility criteria: Only those farmers who have paid the premium / the premium has been debited from their account before the damage
- Damaged by specified perils, up to 14 days after the harvesting is done.
